This is the most blatant advertisement ever. Hmm. Okay. Andrew Hussie, if you find this blog post, can we be friends?
Step 1: Get in the right mindset
Now, people have gone into Homestuck before not knowing what to expect, so I'm making it obvious a this point. Homestuck is the true test of one's patience, the true ascend into true nirvana, moksha, whatever you'll call it. But you have to be prepared. Without preparation, you can starve, become dehydrated, pass out because of lack of sleep, all of these things. So you need to have a large stockpile of skittles, water bottles, and you need to get up at 5:30 am after going to sleep at 7:30 pm the previous night to read Homestuck. Actually, all of this probably isn't true.
Step 2: Make sure you're a good reader
Homestuck requires the right work ethic to properly understand. You can't skip conversations, and if you do you'll miss out on important plot posts that if you hadn't skipped over that one conversation you would've noticed.
Basic lesson: Don't skip things, it leads to misunderstandings and then you don't know what is going on. At all.
Step 3: Find Homestuck
There is more than one way to "read" Homestuck, in case you weren't sure. You could actually read it (This is the best way to read it, and the way that you're least likely to get bored at!) at this link. Pretty simple.
But of course, there's two sides to every sword. There's the sharp edge, and the weak edge. I call this "Weak Edge" the YouTube Read. Why do I call it this? Well, the YouTube read is fine and all, but it's pacing is way too slow for one to actually enjoy.
One of my favorite parts of reading Homestuck and other books is the fact you get to decide the pacing. Also, you can reread parts you misunderstood. In the YouTube read, you have to understand it all on the first time through, or you have to make a bad attempt at going backwards in the video, which we all know can be hard.
Now, I'm not forcing you to read it on the website, so here it is anyway at this link.
Step 4: Now, read Homestuck for real.
This is the only step that really requires you to think. Just keep reading, no matter how weird it gets. Because it's good. Like, the best.
Step 5: Now, since you've finished Act 7, you've Read Homestuck!
Or maybe you haven't yet? Either way, congrats. You did it!
